Looking back: Our Exclusive Opening Party
Earlier this year, we opened the doors of The Chaumer Tea House to close friends and family, who we think were likely to be the most eager to see the finalised project. We had completed the interior only hours earlier that day. After hearing the desperation in our voices, our guests must have been relieved, as were we, that we were able to open after almost 8 months.
The long wait and the hard work that involved sweat, blood and tears - quite literally - has come to an end. For one night, before we opened to the public on the 4th of March, we celebrated with our house wine, Hendrick’s gin and tonic suitably served in tea cups, alongside some evening bites of smoked mackerel pate on rye, smoked cheeses and our house chutney, braised pigeon and East Coast Cured charcuterie.
We were lucky to have a joint birthday party with our dear friend Gracie!
We can add raspberry and white chocolate cake from Gluttony and Glenfiddich whisky to the list of delights we encountered that night.
Between the hours of four and nine, we welcomed around 200 guests who mingled amongst our new team, and vowed to give us their honest feedback on our menu of local produce, country pies and daily specials that include seasonal salads and of course, our collection of fine loose leaf teas, coffees and wines. We hope that, like our guests that evening, you will enjoy exploring our wine list and our hearty local specialities too.
A huge thanks from us to Hendricks for supplying us with the most refreshing gin & tonics which we garnished with dill and cucumber - delicious!
The Chaumer can host private events over its two floors, holding a maximum number of 40 people. We’d be delighted to host you for drinks and nibbles or a full afternoon tea.
We also host our own events such as book signings, tea ceremonies, and yoga classes - rates and dates for these will be announced soon.
Please contact us if you wish to host an event or class at The Chaumer.
We can show you around and discuss your vision.
